The poster for nine songs went through a lot of development and in the end, the final version was a result of the input by the director himself- a main image of a naked girl to highlight the element of sex in the film (an element that all concerned had no doubt would be the most talked about element on the films release). Among some of the more graphical elements to stay in the design was the red keyline around the image that breaks at the title with a cable connection (a subtle reference to the male and female interaction) and the large music listings on the bottom half- another large selling point to the movie. NOTE- Although the film was passed without any cuts to its sex scenes, the poster was altered to obscure the fact that the girl is masturbating.
